International students applying for a visa need to pass a language proficiency assessment in addition to any initial test(s) already scheduled for their chosen degree course.

Certification of Italian

If you are a visa applicant and you wish to enrol in a degree course taught in Italian,  or in a course taught in both Italian and English, you must hold a certification of Italian.

You fulfill this requirement if:

  • you studied at one of the international schools listed here.
  • you have a B2-level Italian proficiency certificate or higher issued in the framework of the CLIQ quality system (CELI, CILS, PLIDA), also in agreement with an Italian Cultural Institute abroad.
  • you obtained a score of 50/72 or more in the CISIA Italian L2 test, organised by other universities.

Certification of English

Many degree courses require an English proficiency assessment. Assessment may vary depending on the degree course.
