The Master’s program in Bioethics and Pediatric Palliative Care aims to provide advanced, multidisciplinary training designed to equip professionals to address—critically, consciously, and competently—the complex clinical, ethical, relational, and organizational issues that arise in the care of children with complex, incurable, or potentially incurable chronic conditions. The primary educational objective is to integrate a solid foundation in clinical bioethics with the specific competencies of pediatric palliative care, fostering decision-making skills in ethical, clinical, and communication contexts and promoting person-centered practice focused on the dignity and quality of life of the child and their family. Furthermore, the program seeks to foster a collaborative, interprofessional approach capable of supporting shared decision-making, respect for the child's autonomy (within the limits of their developmental capacity), and the management of pain and complex symptoms, as well as the critical analysis of bioethical and legal issues surrounding the beginning and end of life. Through the constant integration of theory, clinical practice, and ethical reflection, the Master’s program aims to contribute to the dissemination of a culture of pediatric palliative care as an integral and defining element of the care pathway, within a framework of humanizing medicine and professional responsibility.
