Innovators Community Lab

In 2025 the Contamination Lab of the University of Trieste changed its name and became the new "Innovators Community Lab" - ICL.

Located in the prestigious setting of the "Commander's House" (Casa del Comandante) in the former Military Hospital, the ICL is a hub for innovative courses and workshops meant to accelerate the orientation process towards the professional future of UniTS students, with a specific focus on support to business creation.

ELEVATE Interdisciplinary Summer School: Registrations until September 5th
The ELEVATE Interdisciplinary Summer School will take place from 15-18 September 2026, at the Former Military Hospital of Trieste (Ex Ospedale Militare, via F. Severo 40, Trieste), as an initiative organised by the University's Innovators Community Lab within the European project "ELEVATE", funded by the European Union through the EIT HEI Initiative.
The programme includes a hackaton format, made up of training sessions on Business Modeling, Technology Transfer and Value Proposition Design, as well as a scientific overview by professors and experts from the University of Trieste and the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. Participants will be divided into teams and work on a challenge on the topics of AI and Biomedical applications as presented by the company Prodigys, with the support of business mentors and professors. At the end of the week the participants will present their solutions in front of a jury, which will select the winning team.

It is now available and posted on number 533 of the University's Albo Ufficiale the final results of the selection for the second edition of ICL - Innovators Community Lab.

ICL UniTS activities

The ICL is a place where innovation comes from collaboration between people from different educational backgrounds, from the transversality of disciplines and the contamination of knowledge, hence the name Contamination Lab.

ICL activities consist of learning, mentoring, coworking and making, and are aimed at students selected on the basis of the annual call for applications. Learning activities are open to all students enrolled at the University of Trieste.

Throughout the year, the ICL organises seminars open to the entire university community.

LEARNING
Knowing in order to know how to recombine: a multidisciplinary and systemic training offer on soft skills, specific skills for business planning and innovation as a production system, which also includes meetings with companies and seminars with guidance professionals.
MENTORING
Listening, knowledge and skills at the disposal of projects: consulting on strategic intellectual property management, business planning and open innovation.
COWORKING
Open spaces for ideas to grow: common study and work areas where you can carry out your projects and feel like a community, assisted by professionals.
MAKING
The presence of a making corner to create prototypes to support one's projects.
