For the academic year 2025-2026, official entry to the integrated master’s degrees in Medicine and Surgery, and Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics will be confirmed after a open semester (semestre aperto) with no competitive admission (i.e., students will not have to pass an entry exam to enrol, as was the case in the past). Attendance of this semester is mandatory, and enrolled students will have to pass exams in 3 taught courses with a value of 6 credits (CFU/ECTS) each:

  • Chemistry and fundamentals of biochemistry
  • Physics
  • Biology

At the University of Trieste, learning activities during this filter semester will take place in person and online.

The exam results will be used to create a national ranking for admission to the degree courses Medicine and Surgery, and Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics. Students who do not place high enough on the national ranking for admission to these courses, will nonetheless be eligible for entry to a related back-up degree course selected during the enrolment process. Entry to related back-up courses is dependent on the number of places available and national ranking.
