The Conference of the Italian Society of Psychiatry – Friuli Venezia Giulia Section will be held on Friday 13th September, at the Palazzo Ferdinandeo of the MIB Trieste School of Management, starting at 9:00

The initiative is sponsored by the Department of Medical, Surgical and Health Sciences of the University of Trieste and by the local health services (Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Giuliano-Isontina – ASUGI) and features Prof. Umberto Albert, Professor of Psychiatry at UniTS, as one of its scientific leaders.

The conference will address the importance of the early recognition of psychiatric disorders, which in most cases begin in adolescence to early adulthood. Failure to recognise symptoms of illness early, and therefore failure to intervene early, represents a still unmet need in mental health in our times.

The importance of continuity of care in the age of transition will be emphasised; in fact, the current organisational system provides, in most healthcare providers, two different systems responding to the needs of adolescents on the one hand and young adults on the other, with often difficult integration of care.

Alongside this difficulty, disorders requiring specific attention and preparation, such as nutrition and eating disorders, autism spectrum disorders and ADHD are emerging as new unmet needs in the age of transition.

The Conference of the Italian Society of Psychiatry – Friuli Venezia Giulia Section intends, on the one hand, to offer a scientific update on unmet needs and new developments in the field of early intervention (pharmacological, psychotherapeutic and rehabilitative), and, on the other, to provide a space for discussion and comparison of experiences for mental health professionals in our region, with particular attention to the integration of care in the age of transition.
