On Thursday, January 30, 2025, the University of Trieste will host the workshop of the Interreg Italy-Slovenia IN4SAFETY project. The in-depth session, open to the public, will be held from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM in Conference Room 1_A of Building D, in the Piazzale Europa 1 campus.

IN4SAFETY is a capitalization project funded by the European Union under the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Program, with the Municipality of Ajdovščina as the lead partner and the University of Trieste (Department of Engineering and Architecture), the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia, the Metropolitan City of Venice, the International Institute of Sociology of Gorizia, and the Firefighters of Nova Gorica as partners.

The project, with a budget of nearly 750,000 euros and concluding on September 30, aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation between local authorities and rescue teams to enhance prevention and risk management related to environmental disasters and climate change.

The initiative seeks to develop joint actions, training projects, and integrate territorial data through Web GIS geoportals.

The workshop, after opening greetings which will also involve the Italian Consul General in Koper, will include a morning session presenting the project's guidelines, objectives, and ongoing activities, followed by an afternoon session dedicated to the practical use of the open-source software QGIS and the analysis of Sentinel satellite images from the ESA COPERNICUS Project.

Active participation requires bringing your own laptop.

Registration is required to participate. It will also be possible to follow the session remotely: the link to join via MS Teams will be provided by email to registered participants who choose this mode.
