From 1 to 3 October 2025, the DISU locations in Androna Baciocchi, Androna Campo Marzio and Stazione Rogers will host a series of study days entitled “Three steps in space. Histoire extraordinaire d'actions mobiles. Step three: spectres. Ruins, translations, urban unconscious”.

The three-day conference concludes a series of meetings organised in collaboration with the CRPM, Centre de Recherches Pluridisciplinaires Multilingues - Université Paris X Nanterre and the University of Bologna. The research investigates narratives of contemporary space that identify alternative paths and focus on the practice of walking, engaging in dialogue with contemporary writers, artists and activists. The Trieste meeting will explore creative practices and theories that question the spectral nature of urban space, radically reconfiguring its representation. Internationally renowned figures will participate, such as Sherry Simon, a scholar who has theorised the study of cities as spaces of translation, Patrick Keiller, an internationally renowned video artist, and Luka Novak, a critic and intellectual. There will also be a round table discussion with two writers from Trieste, Mauro Covacich and Luigi Nacci, who have established a close link between writing about urban spaces and the body in motion.
