On Monday 26 May 2025, at 6.30 p.m., at the Rogers Station, in Riva Grumula 14, Trieste, there will be the Presentation of Iwan Paolini's research "I resti della scrittura. Literature, architecture and forms of living in the twenty-year fascist period'.

The meetings of the cycle "SpringBookS. Dialogues on literary theory and cultural criticism" continue. After the debates with Laurent Feneyrou, Marco Fontana and Caterina Diotto, on 26 May Iwan Paolini (PhD student at the University of Trieste and Udine) will present his research "I resti della scrittura. Literature, architecture and forms of living in the twenty-year fascist period". With an interdisciplinary approach, Paolini's work attempts to shed light on some theoretical knots on the notions of architectural functionality and literary non-functionality, paying particular attention to the aesthetic and cultural mutations that affected the intérieur in the inter-war period. Moving from the reforms and the Novecento and Rationalist polemics, the research dwells on literary texts by Gadda, Savinio, Ortese, Masino and Landolfi in order to bring out how the close dialogue between architecture and literature produced changes in the writings of the Ventennio.

The meeting will be moderated by Lisa Gasparotto, lecturer at the Bicocca University of Milan.

"SpringBookS. Dialogues of literary theory and cultural criticism" is a series of events curated by Sergia Adamo, Francesca D'Alessio, Tommaso Dal Monte and Iwan Paolini. The review will continue with further meetings until 23 June. The guests of the initiative will discuss their publishing activities, publications and research works, all works that compare the present with the thought of some of the leading names of the 20th century literary and cultural scene, from Auerbach to Haraway, from Pasolini to Lonzi.
