30 May 2025 , 3:30 - 9 pm Testo evento The 14th edition of Rose Libri Musica Vino draws to a close on Friday, May 30, in the rose garden of San Giovanni Park in Trieste. The cultural series is promoted by the Monte San Pantaleone social cooperative and the University of Trieste, and this year it explores the theme of power.A power rooted in male privilege which, in the economically developed world, has partly changed in appearance over recent centuries—but not in nature. While it has reduced women's segregation and the use of physical force, it remains fundamentally unchanged. As Susan Sontag noted, “Any serious project for women’s liberation must start from the premise that liberation is not simply about equality. It’s about power.”And feminism, writes Giulia Siviero in her book Fare femminismo (Practicing Feminism), has never been just a collection of acquired rights. It has always been, and remains, a movement of practices of freedom, which must be continuously reimagined and renewed. These practices, often left on the margins of mainstream discourse, are brought to the forefront in this book — published by Nottetempo — which Siviero will discuss at 6:00 PM with Natalina Folla, researcher and lecturer in criminal law at the University of Trieste. The author emphasizes how women's politics, from the suffragists to the present, has always stood apart for its ability to combine thought and words with a militant creativity that is both unique and striking. The day will begin at 3:30 PM with a botanical walk led by Andrea Moro, curator of botanical collections at the University of Trieste. At 5:15 PM, the roses will host a Book Club centered on L’isola riflessa (The Reflected Island) by Fabrizia Ramondino, recently republished by Nutrimenti. In this novel, the story of the self blends with the story of the world outside the self — a world in which Utopia, once born on the island of Ventotene where the novel is set, now seems to be fading. After the book comes the wine: this week’s guest is Ornella Venica, a winemaker from Dolegna del Collio, one of Friuli’s most renowned viticultural areas. In conversation with journalist and author Simonetta Lorigliola, Venica will share the history of her family’s winery — from its roots in the 1930s to today — including its biodynamic practices, adopted since the 1990s to promote soil vitality and reduce environmental impact. At 7:30 PM, the evening will close with Una valigia piena di note (A Suitcase Full of Notes), a musical journey featuring Chiara Gelmini (vocals), Tiziano Bole (guitar), and Stefano Bembi (accordion). The performance blends music and travel through sounds, languages, stories, and traditions from around the world — sometimes moving, sometimes playful. In case of bad weather, all events will be held in the Conference Room of the Health Authority (former Spazio Villas). The bookstand will be managed by the independent bookstore Minerva.Meals will be available at the “Il Posto delle Fragole” Bar & Restaurant, with takeaway options. Reservations are recommended at +39 040 578777. Allegati Document Programme
