On Thursday, June 27 and Friday, June 28, 2024, PhD Days from the worlds of Hydraulics, Maritime Hydraulic Construction and Hydrology, and the "Marchi Lecture", a national event in memory of prof. Enrico Marchi, a leading figure in the scientific community, will be held for the first time at the University of Trieste.

The event will be organized over two days:

On Thursday, June 27, starting at 9 a.m., PhD days will be held, an opportunity for doctoral students to briefly present their research activities. First-year doctoral students will do so by serving as posters that will be presented during coffee breaks (Kanizsa Gallery, second floor of Central Building A), while second- and third-year doctoral students will hold oral sessions with 10-minute talks (Venezian Hall, second floor of Central Building A).

On Friday, June 28, the "Marchi Lectures" in memory of prof. Enrico Marchi will be held instead in the Venezian Lecture Hall, starting at 9 a.m.

Also on Friday, June. 28, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in Bachelet Hall on the second floor of Central Building A, there will be a GII (Italian Hydraulics Group) roundtable discussion titled "Hydraulic Risk and Adaptability: a Conversation between Institutions and Water Engineering" by the President of the Association, with faculty from the disciplinary scientific group and stakeholders (Region, Services and Associations). During the panel discussion, the state of the art with respect to the climate and extreme events the country is experiencing will be highlighted and lines of action will be drawn for the hydraulic sustainability of the territory.
