On April 10th and 11th, 2025, the University of Trieste will host the international conference "Remedies to Digital Vulnerability in European Private Law", a high-profile event that will bring together experts in artificial intelligence regulation, judges from the highest European courts, and world-renowned academics.

Organized as part of the PRIN 2020 project, the conference is coordinated by Marta Infantino, a professor at UniTS and Principal Investigator of the project. The aim is to analyze digital vulnerabilities in European private law and discuss effective regulatory solutions.

The event will feature two days of presentations and discussions at various locations on the University campus:

  • April 10, 2025 at Building A of the University of Trieste (Piazzale Europa, 1) – Bachelet Hall and Venezian Hall;
  • April 11, 2025 at the Narodni dom (via Filzi, 14), home of the Department of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators.

Among the speakers will be over sixty scholars and professionals from international academic and judicial institutions, including the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

The panels will address timely topics such as algorithmic discrimination, data protection, contractual vulnerabilities in the digital world, and the challenges of automation in legal services. Key topics to be discussed include the impacts of “dark patterns” on consumer choices, the role of antitrust law in protecting digital vulnerability, the regulation of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), and the new frontiers of data protection, particularly in the healthcare and technology sectors.

The event is open to faculty members, researchers, students, and professionals interested in digital law and artificial intelligence regulation.
