On Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 2:45 PM to 6:45 PM, a conference will be held in the Bachelet Room of Building A (Piazzale Europa), dedicated to the figure of Giampaolo de Ferra, a leading figure in the academic, legal, and cultural landscape of Trieste. The event will bring together academics, professionals, and institutional representatives to remember the scientific and human contribution of Prof. de Ferra, ten years after his passing.

A former Rector of the University of Trieste in the 1970s, de Ferra deeply influenced the life of the University and the city, holding significant roles such as Superintendent of the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Italy, and Governor of the Rotary.

The conference is coordinated by Prof. Massimo Bianca, his successor in the Chair of Commercial Law, and opens with introductory remarks by Gian Paolo Dolso, Director of the IUSLIT Department, Nicola Muffato, Coordinator of the Law Degree Course, Alessandro Cuccagna, President of the Bar Association of Trieste, and Alessandro Zanmarchi, President of the Rotary Club Trieste.

Throughout the afternoon, various presentations will follow, retracing the multiple areas of interest and activity of the Professor, structured in three thematic moments:

  • Amarcord: the man, the life, and the career, with Massimo Bianca and Antonella Lonciari (UniTS);
  • Co-management and Business Law, with contributions from Gianluca Romagnoli (University of Padua), Alessandra Zanardo (University Ca’ Foscari Venice), and Giovanni Meruzzi (University of Verona);
  • The Academic and the Rector, curated by Francesco Peroni (UniTS);
  • The Superintendent, with Paolo Marchesi, former Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, and Gianni Gori, writer and music critic.

The event will be enriched by the screening of images and archival materials that will contribute to vividly recalling the multifaceted personality and cultural legacy of Giampaolo de Ferra.
