29 September 2025 , 9 am - 4:30 pm Testo evento On Monday, 29 September 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the University of Trieste will host the final workshop of the MNEMET project – Modelling Non-standard data and Extremes in Multivariate Environmental Time Series, coordinated by the Department of Economics, Business, Mathematics and Statistics (DEAMS). The event will take place in Room 1_A – Conference Hall, Building D (first floor).Funded by the European Union through Next Generation EU resources under the PRIN 2022 programme, the project is coordinated by Roberta Pappadà, Associate Professor of Statistics, with the participation of the University of Milan – La Statale and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. The Trieste research team includes Gaetano Carmeci, Giovanni Millo and Vincenzo Gioia, all affiliated with DEAMS.MNEMET has focused on the design and testing of advanced statistical methods for the analysis of complex environmental data. In particular, the project has addressed the challenges of multivariate time series modelling, the treatment of non-standard data—such as incomplete observations, thresholds or gaps—and the study of extreme events. As highlighted by the 2022 IPCC Report, the increasing frequency and intensity of such events pose significant challenges for environmental research and call for predictive models capable of supporting climate adaptation strategies.Within this framework, the workshop offers a scientific exchange among experts in the field, with contributions focused on the development of new statistical methodologies applied to environmental and climate-related phenomena. Topics will include the modelling of spatio-temporal processes, extreme event analysis, Bayesian and nonparametric approaches, copula-based dependence modelling, as well as the forecasting of complex phenomena such as heatwaves, urban air pollution, heavy precipitation and energy consumption. The full programme is available on the project website:https://mnemetproject.github.io/workshop/index.htmlParticipation is free of charge, but registration is required by 22 September 2025 at the following link:https://forms.gle/QAq1GGLuyBUoKsq86For further information:rpappada@units.it
