Description

The master's degree course in Mathematics offers a cultural preparation and high-level professional training in the field of Mathematics. Students acquire the ability to set up and solve complex problems, even in operational contexts, suitable for entry management jobs. The course also prepares for a teaching career in secondary schools. The language of the course is English, it involves instructors from the International School of Advanced Studies (SISSA) and the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and for a limited number of students a double degree agreement is available with the University of Ljubljana.

The course is divided into three curricula:

  •  The Advanced Mathematics curriculum is aimed at students who intend to acquire a solid and in-depth knowledge in the various sectors of advanced mathematics, with particular attention to the theoretical aspects of mathematics.
  • The Computational Mathematics and Modelling curriculum is aimed at students interested in more applied aspects of mathematics, in particular in exploring how the integration of mathematics, computer science and statistics characterizes the modern approach to formalization (modelling) and resolution (computation) of complex problems in various applied areas, such as life sciences, natural sciences, economics, engineering.
  • The Mathematical Education curriculum is aimed at students interested to teaching in secondary schools and to communication of mathematics and science.
