CISME has among its main objectives:

  • the coordination, development and implementation of basic and applied research projects
  • the connection with other scientific and cultural realities and institutions operating in the area
  • the promotion of activities dedicated to the training of young researchers
  • the promotion and support of teaching activities in the relevant courses of study
  • the dissemination of knowledge and the results of its activities, also through the organisation of seminars and conferences and the support of publications

More in detail, CISME intends to:

  1. propose interdisciplinary and inter-departmental teaching interventions aimed at the integration of knowledge and at overcoming the constraints deriving from the division of knowledge into disciplinary scientific sectors, with the desirable acceptance of the same within the Degree Courses;
  2. to tackle the history of money and economics by adapting languages and renewing research methods;
  3. to recover the historical tradition of economic analysis, especially in the philosophical sphere, which predates modern economic history (Adam Smith);
  4. study the contemporary evolution of monetary sovereignty in its legal and economic aspects;
  5. apply the assumption that money is ‘Common Good’ to various areas of research;
  6. renew the taxonomy of humanistic and historical-economic research;
  7. to implement real interdisciplinary research between apparently distant SSDs;
  8. to train students and researchers in the analysis and autonomous processing of data deduced from sources and research applied to the contemporary world.
