Mindfulness, or “mental presence,” is a stress-reduction practice derived from vipassana meditation. It involves paying attention to the present moment experience with an attitude of openness, non-reactivity, and balance. Neuroscientific studies have shown its benefits in improving emotional regulation, attention, and self-awareness.
