The call for applications for the 2025 edition of Mentors4UniTS is now online. The programme is aimed at students enrolled in the first or second year of a master's degree course, or in the final or penultimate year of an integrated master's degree course at the University of Trieste.

The project was created with the aim of helping students with personal growth and career guidance, enhancing their university education through the support of a mentor. Mentors are UniTS graduates who are established in the world of work with at least five years of professional experience.

Building trust between mentor and mentee (the student) is at the heart of this initiative and is achieved through discussion, exchange and mutual enrichment. The mentor-mentee relationship is personal, voluntary, free of charge and discursive. The mentor offers their time and experience in the spirit of reciprocity, while the mentee commits to exploring their own strengths and gaining a better understanding of the world of work.

The main aim is to help students develop greater self-awareness, enhance their soft skills and professional competencies, and broaden their knowledge of job opportunities and the dynamics of the job market.

Project dates and numbers

Applications for the call for proposals are open until 28th September 2025. Project activities will start in November 2025 and end in May 2026.

For the 2025 edition, there are 23 places available for students, 1 mentee for each mentor. The mentors are professionals located all over the world.

How is the project structured?

Mentors4UniTS 2025 edition involves a monthly online meeting of 1 hour between mentor and mentee for a minimum of 6 months starting in December 2025.

Both mentors and mentees will receive targeted training from a training specialist. In this way, useful tools for conducting and guiding meetings will be shared with both students and mentors.

Mentees will also be given the opportunity to participate in three career guidance seminars organised by the Career Service.

Finally, on 10th and 11th December 2025, mentors participating in the project will ‘return home’ to their alma mater in Trieste for ‘Homecoming – UniTS Success Stories and Aperitif with Alumni’, an event designed for both the alumni community and students. The following day, mentors will have the opportunity to meet their assigned students in person and hold a face-to-face session, as well as to participate in workshop activities and training.
