The Department of Medical, Surgical, and Health Sciences, in collaboration with the Department of Humanities, organizes the extracurricular training program:
"Health Humanities - Humanistic Culture for Health Sciences and Care Practices"
Training project for the acquisition of transversal skills and the issuance of Open Badges

Contact: Prof. Gianfranco Sanson

All information here:    HEALTH HUMANITIES

The Project brings together in a single, structured, multidisciplinary training program teachers and experts from the humanities (literature, philosophy, pedagogy, sociology, anthropology, the arts, etc.) and healthcare disciplines (medicine, surgery, nursing, etc.) to address and discuss sensitive and controversial topics. The common denominator is the experiences of healthcare practices by those called upon to provide them, by those in need of them, and by those for whom good and bad healthcare relationships are the object of study.
Through the integration of knowledge, the Project proposes and interweaves the perspectives and methodologies adopted by scholars, professionals in the fields of medicine, literature, philosophy, pedagogy, and communication processes, as well as the knowledge of experts in the fields of narrative medicine and artistic and performing disciplines.
Course participants will acquire relational, narrative, and communication skills, required of people who deal with health in its broadest sense of full mental, physical, and social well-being.

The Project is divided into three main thematic areas or modules:
- Comparing philosophies and practices of care;
- Vulnerability, fragility, and care;
- Narratives, self-narrations, and languages.

The training activities are aimed at students enrolled in first-, second-, and third-level programs at the University of Trieste. Participation in the course is free of charge.

Classes are scheduled to begin on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Registration applications must be submitted by email to the Organizing Secretariat by November 27, 2025: (maura.but@amm.units.it ).
