AQUILEIA (UD) - HOUSE OF THE DANCING PUTTI

2026 Excavation Campaign

Experience field archaeology between the Forum and the River Port in Aquileia!
The University of Trieste is now accepting registration for the new season of archaeological excavations at the Fondi ex Cassis in Aquileia. This is a unique opportunity to work in a strategic area of ​​the ancient city, focusing research on the prestigious House of the Dancing Putti: a late-antique residence of exceptional architectural and decorative value.

FIELD EXPERIENCE:
Participants will be involved in all phases of the research:
Stratigraphic excavation applied to valuable residential contexts.
Find management: washing, marking, and inventorying of materials.
Technical documentation: compilation of factsheets, graphic documentation, and topographic survey.
Cultural exploration: guided tours of the National Archaeological Museum and the main archaeological sites of Aquileia.

LOGISTICS:
When: July 2026 (minimum two weeks).
Where: Via Gemina excavation site, Aquileia.
Accommodation: Parco Scout Agesci - Cervignano del Friuli (Udine), Via Baden Powell (equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, heating, storage, telephone, and ADSL).

REQUIREMENTS AND CREDITS:
The activity is intended for students enrolled in the following courses:
History and Philosophy
Literature
Historical Studies from Ancient to Contemporary
Specialization School in Archaeological Heritage

Educational Recognition: Two-week attendance entitles students to 3 credits.
