On Tuesday 25 March 2025, between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., the ‘WORLD SOCIAL WORK DAY - Promoting solidarity between generations for sustainable well-being’ event will take place in the Aula Magna of via Montfort 3, DiSU's headquarters.

The event - organised by the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Trieste as part of the LiberDiSU third mission activities, in collaboration with the Order of Social Workers of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and IRSSeS - the Regional Institute for Social Service Studies - is open to the general public and involves in particular three-year and master's degree students of Social Service, social workers of the region, scholars and teachers of social service degree courses.

The event is held every year to coincide with the world anniversary promoted by the International Federation of Social Workers to raise awareness on issues of social justice, protection of the rights of the most fragile people, solidarity between people and in communities. It primarily involves social work students, social workers, scholars, researchers and teachers of social work degree courses.

An added value of the annual World Social Service Day celebration initiative is to provoke encounters and exchanges between professionals concretely engaged in welfare systems, students about to enter this professional community, and researchers and lecturers promoting scientific knowledge in academia.
