On Tuesday, March 25, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, a seminar with Fabian Bonilla, expert in geotechnical engineering and seismology at Gustave Eiffel University, will be held in the Aula Magna Marussi (Building C, San Giovanni). The event is part of the Visiting Professor program and will provide an in-depth look at soil seismic response through the analysis of 22 years of data collected in Japan.

The seminar will focus on the importance of the K-NET and KiK-net seismic networks, which have been monitoring soil behavior in response to earthquakes for over two decades. These data allow for the study of nonlinear soil response and variations in seismic waves over time, with significant implications for seismic engineering and geotechnical risk assessment.

In the afternoon, at 4:00 PM, a Round Table will be held in Aula Zucchi Stolfa (Building Q, San Giovanni), open to PhD students from the Department, led by Fabian Bonilla. This will be an opportunity to further explore the seminar's topic and promote dialogue among participants on research methodologies in seismology.

Fabian Bonilla works at the Department of Geotechnical Engineering, Earth Sciences, and Natural Hazards (GERS) at Gustave Eiffel University. His research interests include the analysis of linear and nonlinear seismic response, wave propagation in complex media, monitoring temporal variations in soil properties during earthquakes, seismic motion simulation, and probabilistic seismic risk assessment.
