“Let’s change! The climate is changing. Let’s talk about it” is a project promoted by the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Trieste, funded under the University’s Public and Social Engagement Projects – Third Mission. The initiative, running between 2025 and 2026, aims to create opportunities for listening, sharing information, and fostering dialogue with citizens on the impacts of climate change and on strategies to address them collectively. Planned activities include public talks, film screenings, and workshops to engage the local community with accessible language and a multidisciplinary approach.

The third event will be part of the 14th edition of Trieste Next – The Science Research Festival, taking place in Trieste from 26 to 28 September. The talk “In the Water, In the Heat. Cities in Transition” is scheduled for 26 September 2025 at 9:00 AM and will be dedicated to school students.

The Event in Brief
In Trieste, as in many other cities, weather and climate changes are generating tangible impacts on spaces, public health, economic activities, and infrastructure. Extreme events such as rising temperatures and heavy rainfall threaten the livability of the urban environment. The seminar will explore the links between psycho-physical health and these ongoing changes, proposing solutions to make cities more resilient. The goal is to highlight how urgent it is to adopt a conscious and responsible attitude towards the transition of cities into adaptive environments.

Speakers: Fabio Del Missier, Federico Roman and Eleonora Ceschin
