“Let’s change! The climate is changing. Let’s talk about it” is a project promoted by the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Trieste, funded under the University’s Public and Social Engagement Projects – Third Mission. The initiative, running between 2025 and 2026, aims to create opportunities for listening, sharing information, and fostering dialogue with citizens on the impacts of climate change and on strategies to address them collectively. Planned activities include public talks, film screenings, and workshops to engage the local community with accessible language and a multidisciplinary approach.

The series of events will open with the talk “Trump, Electric Buses and Alternative Transport”, scheduled for September 3, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Caffè San Marco in Trieste, focusing on the connections between geopolitics, energy transition, and sustainable mobility.

The Event in Brief
It may sound surprising, but international geopolitical imbalances are linked to the fact that the new electric buses in Trieste are manufactured in China, and more broadly to the ongoing energy transition. At the heart of the issue is a group of raw materials—such as “rare earth elements” and “lithium”—that we all use every day, often without realizing it. So, would it be better to move around using other innovative means like the cable car? Even in this case, however, certain conditions must be met to avoid serious repercussions. The event is intended as an opportunity to get informed—lightly—on issues that concern us all and our future.
