On Wednesday 4th December 2024 from 17:30, in Building D, ground floor, Room T_A, the Department of Economics, Business, Mathematics and Statistics (DEAMS) will host Professor Michel De Vroey from the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium) , who will hold the Seminar entitled From the Rise of a Methodologically Grounded. Theoretical Mainstream to the ‘Empirical Turn’. An Essay on the History of Economics over the Last Half-Century. The promoter of the event is Professor Francesco Magris of DEAMS.

During the seminar, Professor De Vroey will explore the evolution of economics over the last fifty years, analysing two main methodological turns: the establishment of a theoretical mainstream in the 1970s-1990s, and the subsequent ‘empirical turn’ in the 1990s. Three taxonomies will also be presented to classify the different economic currents and specialisations, offering a key to the evolution of the discipline in the contemporary academic context.
