Writers in arms in the Great War. An anthology", published by EUT Edizioni Università di Trieste (2025).The volume represents the starting point for the reflection on the Religion of the Fatherland that will be developed in the panel that the Dante Alighieri Society of Gorizia is proposing for èStoria 2026. The young men who wore the grey-green uniform during the Great War and who gave written testimony of their experience in diary or narrative form (and of whom Italia in grigioverde produces a large sample in essay-anthological form) – almost all of them from the middle class raised on the myth of Garibaldi's rule and the wars of independence, the readers of Cuore – were imbued with a neo-Risorgimento cult of the Fatherland, a secular religion that made patriotism the cornerstone of their worldview and animated them with a passionate impulse that, in many cases, led to self-sacrifice.Speakers: Fulvio Senardi, editor of the volume; Antonia Blasina Miseri, President of the Gorizia Committee of the Dante Alighieri Society; and Walter Chiereghin, Il Ponte Rosso A.P.S. of Trieste.Free admission, subject to availability.
