On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Dietetics Degree Program at the Department of Medical Sciences (DSM) of the University of Trieste, with the support of the Italian Obesity Society (SIO) – Triveneto Section, is offering an event entitled "Obesity Without Prejudice: Listening, Understanding, and Treating" at the Pordenone University Campus, Building S, Via Prasecco 3/A. The event, led by dr. Gianluca Gortan Cappellari, a nutrition researcher at the University and a member of the SIO board of directors, coincides with World Obesity Day and consists of an information point open to campus visitors and all interested citizens.

Obesity is a multifactorial disease whose treatment requires a multidisciplinary professional approach. The increasing incidence and recent developments in pharmacological therapy make accurate information increasingly important, countering self-help and stigma. In this context, the aim of the event is to contribute to a proper understanding of the roles of the professionals involved in obesity treatment, the methodologies (including instrumental) employed, and recent therapeutic innovations.

The information point will provide informational materials on obesity as a disease and its stigma, as well as the opportunity to interact directly with professionals and experts in the field. The activity will also involve, under supervision, second-year students of the Dietetics degree program, coordinated by professor Michela Zanetti, as part of the training activities related to prevention and health promotion in the nutritional field.
