On Monday, September 23, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the “North Adriatic Study Day - Current Legal Issues” will be held at the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Law.

It will be attended, among others, by professors from the University of Trieste, both from Law and Political Science, with the following talks:

10:10 – 12:00 HISTORICAL-JURISTIC SESSION: “The 70th Anniversary of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States and Yugoslavia concerning the 1954 Free Territory of Trieste”

Davide Rossi, researcher at the University of Trieste, Department of Legal Sciences, Language, Interpretation and Translation: “Trieste and the Memorandum of Understanding: international context and events in Italian domestic politics”

Fabio Spitaleri, associate professor at the University of Trieste, Department of Legal Sciences, Language, Interpretation and Translation: “The Memorandum of Understanding between international law, constitutional constraints and prospects for European integration”

14:15 – 16:00 Session on EUROPEAN AND COMPARATE LAW

Andrea Conzutti, research fellow at the University of Trieste, Department of Law, Language, Interpretation and Translation Sciences: “Dynamics of the European economic constitution after the pandemic crisis: new advances or old remains?”

Leonardo Luca Pastore, Ph.D. candidate at the University of Udine and the University of Trieste: “The fractionation of credit in the Italian civil process: between the object of judgment and the principle of demand”

The cooperation of the Rijeka Faculty of Law with Italian and Slovenian educational and scientific institutions is very fruitful. There are in fact several projects carried out with Italian and Slovenian universities co-financed by the European Union. Currently there are as many as three active European projects. The collaboration boasts numerous scientific and research activities between jurists from the different countries, conferences, lectures within the curriculum or outside. There are also numerous Erasmus+ agreements that stimulate and help mobility between these states of both students and faculty. At the Faculty of Law in Rijeka, the course “Introduction to the Study of Italian Law” in the Italian language has been held for five years already, and over the years it has seen the participation of numerous jurists (both professors and professionals) from Italy.
