From July 2 to 5, 2025, Trieste will host the Conference of the European Society for Reproductive Immunology (ESRI), one of the leading international events focused on the study of immunological mechanisms related to human reproduction.

All conference activities will take place at the Department of Humanities (Via Elisa Baciocchi 4).

The initiative, sponsored by the University of Trieste (UniTS), will bring together researchers and experts from around the world, engaged in exploring the complex immunological interactions that regulate fertility, embryo implantation, and pregnancy development.
Among the members of the scientific board is Prof. Roberta Bulla, Full Professor of Immunology and General Pathology at the Department of Life Sciences (DSV) of UniTS.

The four-day scientific program will offer interdisciplinary discussions on topics of high clinical and research relevance, including:

  • Immuno mechanisms of foeto-maternal tolerance
  • Tissue and cell remodelling at the foeto-maternal interface
  • Physio-pathogenetic mechanisms of implantation and pregnancy disorders
  • Immunological causes of recurrent miscarriages and preterm birth
  • Autoimmunity and pregnancy
  • Consequence of inflammation at the foeto-maternal interface on foetal and newborn development
  • Immunology of male and female reproduction and fertility

The event will officially open on July 2 with an opening ceremony and a Lectio Magistralis by Prof. Francesco Tedesco, titled Opposing roles of the complement system in the pathophysiology of pregnancy.
