Reflections on measure and the city starting from a selection of architecture by Francesco Venezia."The Study Day on Measurement, now in its third year, aims to be a moment of sharing across all years of the course around a founding theme of the architectural project: measurement. The day, along with the Welcome Day for new freshmen in the POT Orientation program and the inauguration of the Academic Year, which will be held in the morning at the same location in Gorizia, is intended to be a moment of both scholarly reflection and welcome. The event is part of the annual activities of the Permanent Laboratory of Architectural Theory and Design.PROGRAM:Introduction and presentation by the speaker: Professor Thomas BisianiLuisa Smeragliuolo Perrotta, University of Salerno:"DRAWING THE LIMIT. Reflections on tailoring and cities starting from a selection of architecture by Francesco Venezia"This article reflects on measure in architectural and urban design, starting with a selection of Francesco Venezia's architectural works. From the design of a piece of furniture to the Master Plan for the city of Lauro, the proposed reinterpretation of the architecture highlights the geometric matrices and regulatory frameworks underlying the various solutions as critical avenues for reflection on the project.Following fragments of texts and project drawings, the search for the geometric matrix is highlighted as a tool that ideally unites the Lascaux caves up to Le Corbusier according to a continuous thread that finds the deepest meaning of the project in the control of measurements.Luisa Smeragliuolo Perrotta is an architect with a PhD in Structural Engineering and Building and Urban Renovation, with a thesis on the concept of measure in architectural design. She is a research fellow and adjunct professor for the Architecture and Architectural Composition courses at the University of Salerno. She has been a visiting professor at the ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon (Portugal), the University of Alcalá (Spain), and The Owl - University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Germany). Her research interests focus on the relationship between theory and design. She has studied strategies for the green transformation of compact cities and tools for landscape enhancement in contexts of particular historical and archaeological value. For information:tbisiani@units.itavenudo@units.itgscavuzzo@units.itsara.basso@dia.units.it Allegati Document Locandina
