The University of Trieste will host "Destinazione Public Engagement #6" on Thursday, November 14, and Friday, November 15, in the Aula Magna at Via Filzi 14. This event, promoted by APEnet - Network of Universities and Research Institutions for Public Engagement, brings together 57 institutions, including universities, technical institutes, advanced schools, and research bodies, with the mission of strengthening and highlighting the role of public and social engagement in Italy.

The Public Engagement of universities translates into institutional initiatives and actions aimed at bridging the gap between research and society, thereby fostering social, cultural, and economic growth. APEnet's mission is to guide universities and research institutions as key players in fostering the country's "inclusive development" through listening, dialogue, and collaboration with society.

The upcoming gathering in Trieste marks the network's sixth annual event since its formation as an association in 2022. It will bring together around 130 representatives from affiliated institutions who, over two days of discussions, will focus on using cultural heritage to build community in line with the Faro Convention and on the recognition of Public Engagement activities in academic career paths.

Featured speakers will include Francesc Pla Castelltort, Head of the Council of Europe’s Culture and Cultural Heritage Department, and Daniele Livon, Director of the National Agency for the Evaluation of University and Research Systems (ANVUR).

Additional speakers include Giulia Carluccio, President of APEnet and Deputy Rector of the University of Turin; Paola Rodari, SISSA Medialab; Irene Baldriga, APEnet Board Member and lecturer at Sapienza University of Rome; Laura Nota, President of the Italian Society for Vocational Guidance (SIO) and lecturer at the University of Padua; Lelio Iapadre, Partner at the Forum on Inequalities and Diversity; and Pier Andrea Serra, Vice President of APEnet and Deputy Rector for the Third Mission at the University of Sassari.

Institutional greetings from the University of Trieste will be offered by Rector Roberto Di Lenarda and Caterina Falbo, Delegate for Third Mission and Scientific Outreach at the University of Trieste.
