The competition will be preceded by the award ceremony of the Maglietta aurea del centenario competition (Centenary golden t-shirt) at 14:45.This year 25 institutes will participate from the Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto regions. Several provinces will be represented: those of Trieste, Gorizia, Udine, Pordenone, Treviso, Venice and Padua. In order to support the various teams, public participation is expected. The winning team will be awarded the Coppa Aurea, which will be kept by the respective institute until the next competition, when the trophy will be up for grabs again. The reigning champion is the Ippolito Nievo high school in Padua, which won the 2019 and 2023 editions with the team Gente poco seria (silly guys). From 2020 until 2022 the competition was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The cup could permanently remain with an institute if they manage to win three editions of the competition, meaning it could be permanently awarded to the Ippolito Nievo high school should they win again. The teams ranked in the top places will be admitted to participate in the national team competition to be held in Cesenatico in May 2024 (in 2023 the top five teams were admitted to the final). In order to prepare the students to solve mathematical questions of an unconventional nature and to facilitate the search for a team strategy, a number of training sessions were organised, held by students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics of the University of Trieste.Organising Committee: Franco Obersnel, Edi Rosset, Andrea Sfecci, of the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Geosciences of the University of Trieste; Amalia Abbate, contact person in Trieste for the Mathematics Olympiad.
