01 July 2025 , 11:30 am - 1:30 pm Testo evento On Tuesday 1 July 2025, the University of Trieste will confer an honorary degree in Naval Engineering on Pierroberto Folgiero, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Fincantieri Group.The ceremony will take place in the Aula Magna (3rd floor, Central Building A of the Piazzale Europa Campus), starting at 11.30 am.For twenty-five years, Pierroberto Folgiero has held top management positions for international industry and services groups, dedicating himself to strategy and business development. At Wind, between 2000 and 2008, he contributed to the creation of both fixed and mobile telecommunications infrastructures in Italy and abroad, as well as to the definition of a Tower Company model that later became a new industry standard. He continued his career at Tirrenia di Navigazione, contributing to the restructuring and privatisation of the company that led to the liberalisation of the country's cabotage sector.In 2010 he joined Maire Tecnimont Group, becoming its CEO and General Manager in 2013.For a decade he has entrepreneurially promoted Made in Italy in the world, leading the re-launch of a historic listed company in the country's chemical sector, heir of Montecatini-Montedison, to transform it into an international champion in energy transition, hydrogen and circular economy. In 2022, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Fincantieri Group, which represents one of the largest international companiesin the highly complex shipbuilding sector, with 20,000 direct employees and 18 shipyards worldwide. He embarked on a path of transformation of Fincantieri focused on the evolution of the business based on the macro-trends of the ongoing digital, green and demographic revolution, including towards the most promising core business adjacencies such as the underwater domain. A firm believer in an approach of open innovation and osmosis between sectors, he is involved in programmes for the analysis and selection of start-ups, with a strong focus on the development of innovative ideas, new business models and the promotion of young talent.The academic award is promoted by the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Trieste.The Chamber Choir of the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Music, conducted by Walter Lo Nigro, will perform during the Ceremony.Contact: cerimonia.lhc@amm.units.it Allegati Document Programma
