06 - 07 November 2025 , Tutto il giorno Testo evento On Thursday 6 and Friday 7 November 2025, the second edition of the doctoral conference entitled ‘Centres and Peripheries: interdisciplinary perspectives on power, space and identity’ will take place in Trieste, in memory of Giacomo Gobbato. The Trieste-Udine inter-university conference explores the relationship between centres and peripheries with a multidisciplinary approach. The analysis is divided into three panels, corresponding to the curricula of the PhD programme. The Philosophy Committee aims to interpret this relationship as a process of subjectivation, discussing the relationship between the traditional way of conceiving the subject as a foundation and otherness, which is secondary or, worse, subordinate. The Political and Social Studies committee presents an examination of the topic that combines a focus on individual and collective actors with the disciplinary diversification of political science: philosophy of law, international relations, government studies. The History committee offers the perspective of institutions, investigating the pressures and resistance of peripheral institutions on central ones.Conference venues: Department of Humanities, University of Trieste:Androna Campo Marzio 10, Lecture Hall CVia del Lazzaretto Vecchio 8, Lecture Hall 6PROGRAM:Thursday, 6 November:2:00–6:00 p.m.: Panel I, Political Science.Friday, 7 November:9:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.: Panel II, Philosophy.12:30–2:00 p.m.: Lunch break.2:00–6:30 p.m.: Panel III, History. The detailed conference programme and all relevant information can be found in the attachments below.Scientific and Organising Committee: Dott.
