The Psychology Festival in Friuli Venezia Giulia continues on Friday, February 27, 2026, with the conference "Borders as Problem and Solution: A Journey into the World of Gaetano Kanizsa"

A guided tour of the exhibition "My Pupoli: Gaetano Kanizsa, Scientist and Artist" and the award ceremony for the 4th Prize for Innovative Research in Psychology are also planned

As part of the sixth edition of the Psychology Festival in Friuli Venezia Giulia, a conference entitled "Borders as Problem and Solution: A Journey into the World of Gaetano Kanizsa" will be held on Friday, February 27, at 6:00 PM in the Aula Venezian (Central Building A, Piazzale Europa 1 campus). The guest speaker will be Walter Gerbino, Professor Emeritus of General Psychology at the University of Trieste.

Before the conference, at 5:30 PM, the public will be invited to take a guided tour of the permanent exhibition "My Pupoli: Gaetano Kanizsa, Scientist and Artist", curated by professor Carlo Fantoni, located inside the University. (Meet at 5:20 PM in the right atrium of Central Building A).

During his talk, Walter Gerbino will focus on Kanizsa's thought and, in particular, on the concept of border—understood as margin, edge, contour, or delimitation—and the fundamental role it plays in the way the mind organizes and interprets reality.

Retracing Kanizsa's key discoveries and theoretical contributions, the meeting will explore how the mind creates and uses boundaries to shape phenomenal reality and mental representations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, at 7:30 pm, the Award Ceremony for the 4th Prize for Innovative Research in Psychology will be held, with the presentation of the work of the first-place winner.

The 6th Festival of Psychology in Friuli Venezia Giulia is organized by the Psicoattività Association, in partnership with the University of Trieste, SASS - School of Advanced Social Studies of Nova Gorica, and the Municipalities of Palmanova, Gorizia, Gradisca d'Isonzo, Cormons, and Tavagnacco.
