The book (EUT Edizioni Università di Trieste, 2025) presents the first comprehensive attempt, from an architectural-urban perspective, to "line up" the European Capitals of Culture and systematically compare them, examining the relationship between program, event, and outcomes, and, above all, the legacy: the urban and architectural legacy produced over time by the ECoCs. The volume analyzes 40 case studies, thematic essays, and comparative mappings, and interprets the ECoCs as devices capable of connecting architecture, temporary events, and short-, medium-, and long-term urban strategies, "from Athens 1985 to Nova Gorica/Gorizia 2025."

"Architecture and City. Learning from European Capitals of Culture" is the result of the teaching and research activities developed in the RRR Lab (2023–24 and 2024–25 academic years), with the contribution of the student collectives COLGO! and VAGO.
