Sun, Oct 13 2024, 3pm - Sun, Oct 20 2024, 6:30pm Immagine evento Image Testo evento The Ibero-Latin American Film Festival returns to Trieste from 13th to 19th October for its 39th edition, bringing to theatres 83 films from over 15 Latin American countries, together with productions from Spain and Portugal, making it the largest film event in Italy dedicated to this geographical area.There will be several venues for the event. The heart will be at the Miela Theatre, which will host screenings from 14th to 20th October. In the Section of Studies in Modern Languages for Interpreting and Translation (Via Fabio Filzi 14), on 17th October at 10:00 there will be a conference entitled ‘When cinema tells the story of thematic diversity in Latin America’. The Department of Humanities (DiSU) will be another focal point of the festival, with a rich programme of events:Sunday 13th October, at 20:00, Aula Magna Baciocchi, Androna Elisa Baciocchi 4:Festival opening ceremony with the screening of the short film Vlasta, Apuntes para un documental by Candela Vey (Argentina, 2024, 15 min). Following that, at 18:30, a lectio magistralis by the director.Guest of honour Costa-Gavras, the celebrated Franco-Greek director, known for his films of political denunciation. Born in Greece in 1933 and moved to Paris, he has made iconic works such as Z and Missing, which have won international recognition, including Oscars and the Palme d'Or at Cannes.
