On Friday, October 25, 2024 in the Salone degli Incanti Auditorium (Riva Nazario Sauro, 1), the ‘100 Years of Chemistry @UniTS’ event will take place. The event has been organised by the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences with the collaboration of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Section of the Italian Chemical Society as part of the University of Trieste’s centernary celebrations. 

Chemistry has in fact been intertwined with the history of UniTS since its founding when research in chemistry was carried out at the university within the scope of the study of commodities.

The goal of the event will be to raise awareness of the history and importance of chemistry in our society. This will be achieved through sections dedicated to schools,  public lectures,  and an excursus on the development of chemistry at the University of Trieste. 

One of the event highlights will be the panel discussion ‘Chemistry: between progress and preconceptions' (11:00) which will focus particualrly on the role of chemistry in the future. The discussion will bring together voices from the public and private sectors on issues ranging from the environment to health and the ecological transition.
