On Tuesday, 30 June 2026, at 6:00 p.m., the Antico Caffè San Marco in Trieste will host the public engagement event “The impact of our food choices on the climate”, dedicated to the relationship between food, sustainability and climate change.

Everyday food choices have a significant impact on the environment and represent one of the areas in which individual behaviours can contribute to the transition towards more sustainable models.

The event will offer an opportunity to reflect on how younger generations make food-related decisions in the face of the challenges posed by the climate crisis. Starting from a study conducted among students at the University of Trieste, the speakers will analyse perceptions, habits and levels of awareness regarding the relationship between food and the environment.

Through discussion and dialogue around the main scientific data available, the event aims to provide useful tools to better understand the impact of our food choices and identify more conscious and sustainable behaviours.

Speakers will include Gianluigi Gallenti, Barbara Campisi, Matteo Carzedda and Valentino Riva.

The event is part of the project Urban_Food-Lab_TS – Towards a Healthy and Sustainable Food System in Trieste, a Public and Social Engagement – Third Mission project funded by the University of Trieste.
