On Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., the third and final seminar in the series "Innovating for the Planet: Chemistry to Address Environmental Challenges" will take place at the San Marco Bookshop and Café, located at Via Cesare Battisti 18, Trieste. This series is a Public Social Engagement initiative of the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Trieste.

Speaker: professor Lucia Gardossi - "Beyond Plastics and Microplastics: Sustainable Italian Solutions"

Not all plastics are the same: there are materials with different properties and impacts on the environment and health. Research, with Italy at the forefront, is working on new, more sustainable plastics. The presence of microplastics in water is also being studied to protect the environment and citizens. The goal is to inform and promote responsible behavior to reduce environmental impact.
