The conference "The Risiera di San Sabba Trial of 1976, Half a Century Later" culminates the initiatives promoted by the Committee for the Fiftieth Anniversary, the Municipality of Trieste, the Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and the IUSLIT Department of UniTS to commemorate the trial held fifty years ago in Trieste against the perpetrators of the crimes at the Risiera, the only concentration and transit camp in Italy also equipped with a crematorium.

Following the exhibition, which is still open at the Palace of Justice and the plaque unveiled there on April 29th in the presence of the authorities, the conference will take place on May 15th and 16th, respectively in the Aula Magna in Piazzale Europa and in the Narodni Dom in Via Filzi. In these already evocative locations, historians on the morning of the 15th and jurists on the afternoon of the same day will finally delve into the symbolic events of a past that we have often tried to forget.

The roundtable discussion on the morning of the 16th will instead address the current situation and, even more importantly, the future of this authentic "past that never passes", which, in fact, risks repeating itself on an even larger scale in a world increasingly plagued by economic, political, and military conflicts.
