Twelfth edition of UniTeatro, the free theatre festival organised by the Trieste University Theatre Centre thanks to the support of the University of Trieste

From Tuesday 26th to Thursday 28th May 2026, at 9 pm, the Biology Amphitheatre on the University of Trieste Campus, at Via Licio Giorgieri 10, will host performances from the CUT first and second level theatre courses, the result of work carried out during the academic year, together with the Maschere Nude group from the University of Ljubljana.

Uniteatro is a theater festival organized by students for students, celebrating its twelfth edition in 2026. The festival, free and open to all, aims to introduce students of the University of Trieste to theater, bringing engaging performances to university spaces to capture their interest and encourage active participation.

The first-level course group, led by Emiliano Troiano, will present the show "Once Upon a Time in Pezzotto" on Tuesday, May 26th at 9:00 PM. This show is a microcosm populated by larger-than-life characters, bizarre habits, and familiar collective rituals. The actors will explore a variety of situations: barroom chatter, petty obsessions, misunderstandings, and collective rituals, offering a sharp and ironic perspective on our society. Comedy and ensemble scenes alternate to create a world suspended between the grotesque and the absurd.

On Wednesday, May 27th, at 8:00 PM, Maschere Nude, the Italian theater group from the University of Ljubljana, will take the stage, led by Silvia Viviani.
This year, Maschere Nude will perform "La signora è da buttare" by Dario Fo and Franca Rame.

Closing the series, on Thursday, May 28th at 9:00 PM, the CUT second-level course group, led by Valentina Fiammetta Milan, will perform "Bobok, bobok, bobok...", a diverse and choral performance in which students will lend their bodies and voices to characters from some of Dostoevsky's major works—White Nights, Poor Folk, Notes from Underground, and Bobok—in a series of intertwined scenes. We will witness the spectacle of human nature, from passionate declarations of love and irreparable breakups to the most domineering and cowardly pettiness.

Uniteatro fosters exchange and understanding between CUT members and emerging theater companies of the same age, and in this case international, creating an environment for authentic discussion and mutual growth. After each performance, actors, audience members, and organizers gather to discuss, helping to build a dynamic and collaborative youth theater community.

Admission is free, with limited seating. In case of inclement weather, please consult the website. www.cutrieste.com
