02 April 2026, 6 - 7 pm Testo evento On Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 6:00 PM, Stazione Rogers will host the presentation of "Tecno-kitsch. Digital Spectacularization", a volume edited by Giulio Lughi, professor of Digital Media at the University and Polytechnic of Turin. The lecturer will be in conversation with Sergia Adamo, professor of Comparative Literature and Literary Theory at the University of Trieste. The book does not offer a univocal definition of techno-kitsch, but rather attempts to sketch a rough map of the phenomenon, connecting concepts drawn from classic literature on kitsch (taste, spectacularization, parody, gamification, creativity, beauty, aesthetics, art) with the new forms and modes of expression of digital technology and artificial intelligence. The book thus seeks to understand the impact of the latest technologies on creativity and art, given that they often seem to lead to products that are banal and of questionable aesthetic quality. Should they be interpreted with the old criterion of "bad taste," or is the scenario that unfolds much more complex? Are we witnessing a normal process of techno-cultural evolution, or do we need to develop new parameters of judgment? Aldo Colonetti, Ruggero Eugeni, Kamilia Kard, Giulio Lughi, Gabriele Marino, Domenico Quaranta, and Ugo Volli attempt to answer these questions in this volume, part of the "Quaderni di Insula Felix. 4" (Nomos Edizioni 2025).The meeting is organized as part of the agreement between Stazione Rogers and the University of Trieste.
