Following its recent presentation, the Southeast Europe Observatory (SEE) officially opens registration for its first public event, which will be held at the Observatory's headquarters, the MIB Trieste School of Management.

The first meeting, titled "Trieste – Roots of Liberal Thought", is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the MIB Trieste School of Management (Largo Caduti di Nassiriya 1, 34142 Trieste), with the participation of University of Trieste professor Ezio Benedetti.

The conference will open with a welcome address by Vladimir Nanut, CEO & General Director of MIB Trieste School of Management, followed by an introduction by Valentina Superti, Director of the European Commission's Western Balkans (ENEST WB).

The panel brings together speakers of recognized academic and institutional standing, with consolidated expertise on European and Balkan issues. Alberto Mingardi, Full Professor of History of Political Doctrines (IULM, Milan) and Director of the Bruno Leoni Institute, will offer a reflection on the roots of liberal thought. Emma Galli, Full Professor of Public Finance (Sapienza University of Rome) and Scientific Director of the Luigi Einaudi Foundation, will explore Einaudi's liberal economic tradition. Ezio Benedetti, Adjunct Professor of International Organizations and Lecturer in EU Law (University of Trieste), as well as Senior Expert in EU projects for the Western Balkans, will analyze the impact and importance of liberal thought in the process of European integration.

The initiative is open to all and is designed especially for young people: an opportunity to initiate a structured dialogue on the values, methods, and tools of liberal thought and the European path of Southeast Europe. The "Liberal Dialogues" initiative also aims to contribute to building a network among young people in Italy and the countries of Southeast Europe, fostering discussion, mutual understanding, and collaboration.

Free registration: Registration is required on the SEE Observatory website: https://www.seeobservatory.eu
