Within the framework of WIP 2026 – Integrated Design Workshops, the Single-Cycle Master’s Degree Programme in Architecture presents the lecture “Architectures as Palimpsests” by the RigonSimonetti architecture studio.

The event will take place on Thursday, 16 July at 11 a.m. in Room 202 of the University Campus in Gorizia, Via Alviano 18.

The lecture is part of the teaching activities dedicated to the Community of the Friulian Riviera, the central theme of the 2026 edition of the workshops. The contemporary landscape, characterised by a complex layering of traces and memories, is interpreted as a palimpsest to be deciphered and rewritten through architectural design.

During the lecture, a contemporary approach to architectural practice will be explored through the presentation of a selection of significant projects by RigonSimonetti, illustrating how design can respond to the challenges posed by the layered and complex nature of territories and places.

The lecture is curated by Gianluca Facchinelli, Celeste Da Boit and Giada Saviane, visiting architects for the 2026 edition of WIP.
