Presentation of the EUT Edizioni Università di Trieste volume "Artificial Intelligence in Cultural Places: A Reflection" edited by Francesca Fiorentini, editor of the volume and coordinator of the Museum System of the University of Trieste – smaTs "bookweek" – the authors meet readers | Gorizia 12-14 June 2026

As part of the second edition of the Gorizia "bookweek", a festival dedicated to books and the dissemination of culture, which will be held from June 12 to 14, 2026, EUT Edizioni Università di Trieste is promoting the presentation of the volume edited by Francesca Fiorentini, "Artificial Intelligence in Places of Culture", which will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 4:00 to 4:45 p.m., at the Trgovski dom, Corso Verdi 52 in Gorizia.

The speaker at the event will be Francesca Fiorentini, editor of the volume and coordinator of the Museum System of the University of Trieste - smaTs, who will be in conversation with journalist Gianluca Salvagno (Il Piccolo, Nord Est Multimedia).

The meeting will offer an opportunity to explore how artificial intelligence is increasingly widespread in traditional cultural venues—museums, archives, and libraries—presenting a set of heterogeneous technologies that, when integrated with the digitization of cultural heritage, enable new forms of cultural production, valorization, and enjoyment. From immersive experiences to interactive platforms, to augmented and virtual reality systems, AI enables personalized narratives and significantly expands access to content, helping to reduce inequalities and foster more inclusive participation. However, these opportunities are accompanied by significant challenges: dependence on digital data and selective, often non-transparent, digitalization processes can impact cultural diversity and human creativity.

These issues were the focus of the conference “Artificial intelligence in cultural sites” (Gorizia, 6–7 October 2025), held at the University Campus of Gorizia, promoted by the Museum System of the University of Trieste – smaTs and the FVG Territorial Committee of the MAB – Museums, Archives, Libraries, with the patronage of ERPAC FVG, the Municipality of Gorizia and Assicurazioni Generali.
