11 February 2026, 2:15 - 5:15 pm Testo evento On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2:15 p.m., at the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Geosciences – MIGe, in Via Weiss 2, Building Q, Room A “Zucchi Stolfa” (First Floor), a meeting will be held to present the results of the study "Mining Areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Deposit Structures and Their Preliminary Characterization".The event is organized by the Central Directorate for Environmental Protection, Energy and Sustainable Development of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Geological Survey, and the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Geosciences of the University of Trieste (MIGe).The activities were aimed at improving the regional knowledge base and focused, in particular, on the historic mineral deposits of the former Raibl mine in Cave del Predil and the abandoned mining area of Monte Avanza (Municipality of Forni Avoltri), with an in-depth study of the presence of lithium in the groundwater of the Upper Tagliamento Valley (Municipality of Enemonzo).The work carried out today provides a more up-to-date and complete knowledge base on some areas included in the regional historic mining heritage, and identified in the new PNE (National Exploration Program).The initiative is part of the framework defined by Regulation (EU) 2024/1252, which establishes a European system for the secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials, and the recent national regulatory measures introduced by Legislative Decree No. 84 of 25 June 2024.The full event program and all relevant information can be found in the attachment below.
