On Wednesday 10th September 2025, from 18:00 to 20:00, the seminar ‘Influencers and new forms of digital persuasion’ will be held at Stazione Rogers (Riva Grumula, 14) in Trieste. This is the second event in the seminar series entitled ‘Are we the product?’, promoted under the PRIN 2022 ERMETE project – Fairness and Transparency in Online Commercial Speech: From Pragmatic Analysis to Regulation, coordinated for the University of Trieste by Paolo Labinaz (DiSU) and Nicola Muffato (IUSLIT).

The seminar will discuss influencer marketing from multiple perspectives; from building trust between creators and followers to strategies that make content credible and engaging, and from the boundaries between personal storytelling and advertising to the role of regulations designed to ensure transparency.

The discussion will be moderated by Nicola Muffato, Associate Professor of Philosophy of Law, University of Trieste.

Speakers will include:

  • Giorgia Mannaioli, research fellow at the University of Genoa for the PRIN ERMETE project
  • Maria Angela Polesana, Associate Professor of Sociology of Cultural and Communication Processes at the IULM University of Milan
  • Tereza Pertot, Associate Professor of Private Law at the University of Udine
