The Master aims to train the figure of the nurse specialist in skin lesions. The course aims to deepen the knowledge of complex wounds, i.e., those injuries that do not progress through the normal healing phases for at least 4 weeks with standard treatment. Surgical indications in patients with difficult wounds, reconstructive techniques, and biomaterials will be illustrated. In particular, techniques such as debridement, surgical indications, how to perform skin grafts, pedicled and microsurgical flaps, the use of biomaterials, diabetic foot surgery, and surgical treatment of pressure injuries will be demonstrated. This will be followed by the observation of surgical procedures in the operating room and the discussion of postoperative patient management. Finally, the course will discuss research perspectives, cell therapy, and the establishment of a Skin Bank. At the end of the course, the nurse will have a complete overview of the management of patients with complex wounds.
