In memory of Mario Fiorentini" will take place.With this conference, the Department of Legal Sciences, Language, Interpretation, and Translation - IUSLIT remembers Mario Fiorentini, former professor of Roman Law and Foundations of European Law at the IUSLIT Department of the University of Trieste, who passed away in June 2025.After graduating with honors in Law from the University of Pisa in 1981, Mario Fiorentini participated in the first cycle of the PhD in Roman Law and Eastern Mediterranean Law (University of Rome La Sapienza, 1983-1986), studying the topic of gentile cults, which was later the subject of his first monograph (1988). In 1991, he won the competition for a researcher position at the Faculty of Law of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where he remained until 1996, when he was transferred to Trieste, where he was appointed associate professor in the early 2000s, following the publication of ‘Fiumi e mari nell’esperienza legale romana’ (Fiumes and seas in Roman legal experience) (2003).
