Registration is now open for the "Engage and Motivate to Orient" course for University Tutors and Students of the University of Trieste - January 30 and 31, 2026

The Department of Life Sciences (DSV) of the University of Trieste renews its commitment to quality education by offering a new program dedicated to active teaching methodologies and enhancing the role of university tutors. As part of the Scientific Degree Program – Biology, Natural and Environmental Sciences, the course "Engage and Motivate to Guide!" is being offered. This initiative is designed to strengthen the skills of those who support students on a daily basis in their academic careers. The program is also open to all students interested in active teaching, curriculum planning, and educational relationships.

The activity will take place on January 30 and 31, 2026, in Building H3 on the Campus (Room 2B on January 30 and Room 1C on January 31), from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. These two immersive days will be built around a participatory, experiential, and highly engaging learning approach, bringing together theoretical reflection, active experimentation, and co-design processes.

The course will be led by dr. Romina Nesti, an Italian educationalist, researcher, and trainer specializing in game-based learning, educational planning, career guidance, and play practices in educational settings. With twenty years of experience training educators, teachers, and education professionals, a solid academic profile, and numerous publications in the field - including the book "Game-Based Learning. Game and Play Planning in Education" - mr. Nesti will guide participants through a program that combines scientific rigor and active dynamics, narrative tools, and hands-on workshops. Her goal is to strengthen the tutor's (or future tutor's) ability to guide students in a competent, motivating, and effective manner.

The course will explore models and techniques for student engagement, strategies for integrating play into educational activities, tools for facilitating active participation, and methods for designing more informed guidance interventions. Through guided exercises, discussion sessions, and workshops, participants will be guided in the creation of micro-projects and operational tools that can be immediately implemented within the university context.

The initiative is aimed at all tutors in the Department of Life Sciences and other UniTS departments, but is also open to all students of the University, particularly those who wish to take on the role of tutor in the future or who are interested in developing transversal skills in the areas of educational communication, guidance, and active learning.

With this initiative, the Department of Life Sciences confirms its commitment to promoting an increasingly participatory and innovative university education, capable of enhancing the support and guidance processes that make the academic experience a genuine path of growth.

Participation is free, but seating is limited.
